St Lawrence Church

St. Lawrence (aka St. Laurence) church is located in the village of Eriswell.

Before Eriswell there was the duplex manor of Eriswell cum Coclesworth.
Coclesworth had St. Lawrence church.
Eriswell had St. Peters church.
St. Lawrence survived as an active church but St. Peter did not.
Today, all that remains of St. Peters church is the dovecote which can be seen on the road to Lakenheath (just behind the barn occupied by USAF Auto Rentals) 

It is believed that material from St. Peters church was carted away in the 17th century, to produce the two story western porch of the nearby church of St. Mary in Lakenheath. It is further said that the East window of St. Peters is now installed as the West window of the upper chamber of St. Mary western porch. 

Many historical documents incorrectly referred to St. Lawrence church as St. Peters church. A fact that Rev J. T. Munday was at pains to point out during his research and writings of the 1960's
